Cookeville Courses
- The Cosmetology Course is a 1500 hour program covering a period of ten (10) to twelve (12) months for full-time attendance. Full-time students attend school approximately 35 to 40 hours per week.
- Cosmetology: A study of the basic principles of Cosmetology that include a basic understanding of the chemistry of the skins and hair, as well as the practical application.
- The Cosmetology course is a well rounded program covering all phases of cosmetology, preparing the student for a career as a Licensed Cosmetologist or a career in a related field. The approach to training used by the school is based on sound educational methods and teaching fundamentals.
- The first portion of the cosmetology course is spent in the classroom and the manikin room where training includes lectures, demonstrations, and practice in molding, pin curl patterns, roller placements, permanent waving, hair shaping, hair coloring and the chemistry of the hair.
- The second portion of the cosmetology course, the student is introduced to the clinic floor where the student may exercise the knowledge gained during the previous weeks of training. For it is through applied knowledge that the necessary experience and comprehension of cosmetology can develop. For the remainder of the course, the student is scheduled for classroom theory as well as clinic floor instruction for the duration of the course.
- All subject matter is presented in the form of instructor lecture, class assignments, videotape presentations, hands-on demonstrations, class discussion, and projects. Instruction will also be complemented with lectures from guest artists, product representatives and salon owners or managers.

- The Esthetician Course is a 900 clock hour program. Students are scheduled to complete the course in 30 weeks, however, actual time taken to finish depends on each individual student’s ability to attain these hours in a timely manner. Full-time attendance is 32 hours per week. It should take the student approximately seven (7) to eight (8) months to complete the course.
- Esthetician: The Esthetician course is a well rounded program covering all phases of esthetics, preparing the student for a career as a Licensed Esthetician or a career in a related field. Esthetics is an expanding field which will enable the graduate to perform massaging, cleansing, manipulating, exercising, and beautifying all facial skin types. As a licensed esthetician, you will be able to choose from a wide range of career opportunities that will be both lucrative and personally fulfilling. The program combines both theory and hands on instruction which concentrates on learning techniques as well as experiencing interaction with the client.

- The Nail Technology Course is a 600 hour program covering a period of approximately five (5) to six (6) months for full-time attendance. Full-time students attend 35 to 40 hours per week.
- Nail Technology: A study of the basic principles of manicuring that include a basic understanding of the hands and feet, as well as the practical application of artificial nails. The Nail Technology program prepares a person with the necessary manicuring and pedicure skills necessary for employment in a beauty salon or a nail shop. The course is a well-rounded program covering all phases of manicuring, pedicure and artificial nails, preparing the student for a career as a Licensed Nail Technician or a career in a related field. Training includes lecture, hands-on demonstration and student participation.
- Students will demonstrate their knowledge of manicuring and pedicure theory, and their application ability through the completion of the required practical and clinic activities. Instruction will be supplemented with guest artist, visual aids, and other instructional techniques.
- All subject matter will be presented in the form of instructor lecture, class assignments, videotape presentations, hands-on demonstrations, class discussion, and projects. Instruction will also be complemented with guest artist product representatives and shop owners or managers.

- The Instructor Training Course is a study of the teaching techniques required of licensed cosmetologists to become effective instructors. It is currently a 300 hour course. The development of lesson plans, teaching techniques (practical and theory), motivation skills, class schedules and student counseling are areas developed in this course.
- Instructor Trainee: A study of the methods and teaching techniques required for licensed cosmetologists to become effective classroom and clinic instructors. The Instructor Trainee Course is a well-rounded program covering the most important phases of skilled instruction techniques for cosmetology and nail technology, preparing the trainee for a career as a Licensed Cosmetology Instructor or a career in a related field. The approach to training used by the school is based on sound educational methods and teaching fundamentals.
- The development of lesson plans, teaching techniques (practical and theory), class schedules and student counseling are areas developed in this course. Motivation skills are one of the required skills for each segment of the course.
- All subject matter is presented in the form of hands-on work with students, showing them the techniques used in developing good skills through the different stages of the cosmetology and the nail technology courses. Instructor trainees develop lesson plans and use these lesson plans during their student teaching.
